Wipers Times is the first beer of the new town of Ypres brewery "Brouwerij De Casemates", located in the unique historical casemates of "The Wooden Horse" at the Lille Gate. It is a special blond high fermentation beer, made of four cereals, hopped exclusively with region-hop and also contains four herbs. The beer owes its name to the "Tranche gazette" which was printed by British soldiers during the First World War in this underground shelters for their comrades at the front. Because the English couldn't say the name Ypres easily they translated this into Wipers and as the newspaper's name originated and also the beer obtained his name! The logo of the newspaper is a thistle leaf found the thistle (Blessed Thistle) and this is also immediately one of the herbs used in the beer.
