Vlasbier is a blond beer by Brewery Van Eecke. It is a top fermented beer, with re-fermentation in the bottle. Its flavor is a nice balance between lightly sour, fruity notes and mildly sweet malts. It has a very complex flavor with amongst others notes of citrus and flower blossoms. The aftertaste is slightly tangy and a bit bitter. Its name means literally ‘flax beer’ and on the bottle, one can see people working on flax fields.
This beer is a regional specialty from the South West of Flanders and a tribute to an industry that brought a lot of prosperity to that region. It has an alcohol content of 6.5%.
