Timmermans is one of Belgium’s oldest lambic breweries, dating back to 1702. The brewery is located located in the village of Itterbeek, just West of Brussels. It wasn’t until 1911 that the brewery was known under its present name. It was then that Frans Timmermans took over this existing brewery and laid the first stones of this success story. Back in these days, the brewery included a farm, a fruit farm, a pub and a malt house (which remained in use until 1960). Later in his life, Frans Timmermans was elected mayor of Itterbeek, and the legend goes that he ran the town from his brewery and was seldom seen at the town hall.
This Timmermans Strawberry beer is just one of their many fruit beers. Just like every other lambic brewery, they have a cherry beer called Timmermans Kriek, a raspberry beer Timmermans Framboise and a large selection of old style gueuze and kriek beers.
