Saison Dupont is a copper blond saison beer with a bitter flavor and a very fine aroma. This beer is sometimes considered 'The Mother of all Saison Beers'. It is brewed in the farmhouse brewery of the Dupont family every winter since 1844. After the brewing process, the beer referments for about 6 months in the barrel until the next summer. This very thirst-quenching beer used to be served to the “saisoniers”, seasonal workers who were working on the fields in summer. It has an alcohol content of 6.5%.
Serving temperature: 4-8°C
Saison Dupont is one of Belgium’s best known saison beers. These beers are typical for the Hainaut region in Wallonia. At the late 19th Century and the early 20th Century, the ‘saisoniers’ or seasonal laborers were a very typical sight in Hainaut. They were people from surrounding provinces and even from the North of France who came to work on the fields during summer, and stayed at the farm during that time. The saison beers were created for them.
Although the laborers have long gone, the beers are still there. Other well-known saison beers are Saison Silly, by Brasserie de Silly, and St. Feuillien Saison, a very recent, but very successful beer.
