Palm is without a doubt Belgium’s best-known and most popular ‘Speciale Belge’ beer. These amber-colored top fermentation beers were the most common beers in Belgium, before the pils beers were introduced. Palm beer has a mellow, malty flavor with hints of caramel and fruits. The beer owes its unique character to the very specific yeast strains and malts that the brewer has selected for this beer. It has an alcohol content of 5.4%.
Beer guru Michael Jackson said about this beer “If I could have a beer for breakfast, I would have a Palm”.
Serving temperature: 6-8 °C
During the winter period, this beer is replaced by a stronger version called Dobbel Palm, sold at the same price. That is a gift from the brewer to the customers. Palm beer is the flagship beer of the brewery with the same name in Steenhuffel . Palm Brewery was founded in 1747 is although it is mainly known for this one beer, it is also the company that owns amongst others Rodenbach, Steenbrugge and Brugge Tripel. It is one of the biggest breweries that is still for 100% in Belgian hands.
