Leffe 9° is a Belgian abbey beer with a dark, golden color. Its complete name is Leffe Rituel 9, but it often gets abbreviated. This beer gets this unique color during the fermentation process, because it ferments at higher temperatures than usual. It has a nice balance of bitter, fruity and spicy aromas. An intense beer, full of character with a long, slightly smoky, aftertaste. It has an alcohol content of 9.0%, which makes it the strongest of all Leffe beers.
Serving temperature: 5-6°C
Leffe 9 is one of the many new beers that the brewery has launched in the last few years. They have done a big effort to step away from the typical abbey styles: double, blond and triple. This has resulted in the creation of several unique abbey beers. Other new beers include Leffe Ruby, a surprisingly light and fruity abbey beer with a marvelous red color or Leffe Radieuse, a rather strong amber colored beer with a very pronounced hop flavor. With these beers, it is Leffe’s intention to bridge the gap between their ancient brewing tradition and the modern times where each beer needs to be unique if it wants to stand out amongst the hundreds of other Belgian beers that are available these days.
