Grimbergen Blonde is a blonde top fermentation beer, brewed with top-quality ingredients. It has a very full malty flavor, with a nice balance between light fruity and bitter. It has an alcohol content of 6.7%.
Serving temperature: 6-8°C
The tradition of Grimbergen beer dates back to the 12th Century, when the Norbertine Abbey of Grimbergen was built in a village just North of Brussels. Because the abbey has been destroyed and burnt down several times during history, the monks were forced to give up their brewing tradition. In 1958 however, they signed a licensing deal with brewery Alken-Maes who started brewing these wonderful beers again, according to the abbey’s ancient recipes.
This proved to be a great success, because the Grimbergen beer has become very renowned worldwide, and Grimbergen Blonde is considered to be one of Belgium’s better blonde abbey beers. Especially for people who are into full and malty beers. Besides this beer, there are two other blond beers with the same name. Grimbergen Tripel is a stronger and denser version of this blonde beer and Grimbergen Goud is also a strong blond beer, but less dense.
