Cantillon Vigneronne is a unique grape-lambic. Instead of adding cherries (kriek) or raspberries (framboise) to the lambic, this beer is made by adding white Italian grapes. Because grapes contain a lot of fructose, this results in a beer that is more mellow than other lambic beers.
Vigneronne has been on the market under its current name since 1987 and it is one of brewery Cantillon’s most popular beers. It only makes up 5% of their total production, because the production of this beer is very labor intensive. Every year 1,000 kg of grapes are hand-picked of the bunch by Cantillon staff, before being blended with the lambic.
This beer has the aroma and the flavor of white grapes and an alcohol content of 5.0%. It is brewed only once per year and is available in limited quantities around the second half of February.
