Tripel Karmeliet is a tripel beer that is still brewed according to an authentic beer recipe from 1679, originating in the former Carmelite monastery in Dendermonde. The recipe uses 3 kinds of grain: oats, barley and wheat. The beer has a complex golden color and a creamy head. Its aroma is spicy and fruity, and its sweet flavor evolves into a mildly bitter aftertaste. Tripel Karmeliet has an alcohol content of 8.4%.

Tripel Karmeliet is one of the best tripel beers in the world. It is loved by beer drinkers all over the world, it has won numerous prizes and it is on the number one position on Ratebeer in the category "Abbey Tripel". It is brewed at Brewery Bosteels in Buggenhout who, besides recipes for beer, also seem to have a recipe for success. Every beer that is brewed at this brewery seems to become an immediate worldwide success.
Besides Tripel Karmeliet, they also brew the well-known Kwak beer, a delicious amber beer which owes its fame partly to the unique shape of its glass. Another, quite recent, beer from this brewery is Deus, brut des Flandres. This sparkling blonde beer is brewed according to the Champagne method, which means that the brewers use Champagne yeast during the fermentation process, and the bottles even spend a few months in the Champagne region to mature. When Bosteels came up with this, it was really unique, but by now some other similar beers are available on the market.
