White beer is also referred to as witbier, biere blanche or white ale. It is a top-fermented beer made from barley and wheat. It gets its name due to suspended yeast and wheat proteins which cause the beer to look hazy, or white, when cold.
This collection contains both the original white beers, as well as the fruit-flavored ones that have quickly gained popularity over the last few years. Except for the world-famous Hoegaarden beer, the best known beers in this collection are Blanche de Bruxelles, Blanche de Namur, Steenbrugge Wit and Witheer. Amongst the fruit-flavored ones, look out for Wittekerke Rose (Belgium’s first ever white beer with added fruit flavor), Hoegaarden Rosee and Mystic White Beer with Cherries.
These beers are best served ice cold (2-4 °C). Cheers !
