Although both the name and the logo of this beer refer to a centuries old abbey, the brewery itself is still quite young. Brewery Abbaye des Rocs was founded in 1979 and in the very beginning it had an annual production of 25 hectoliters (50l every two weeks). Because their beers quickly grew in popularity that production quickly started to increase. Nowadays the name Abbaye des Rocs is well-known amongst beer fans all over the world, but the brewery itself still remains relatively small scale and very authentic.
Abbaye des Rocs Brune (often simply referred to as ‘Abbaye des Rocs’) was their very first beer and it still is by far their most famous beer, but it is no longer their only beer. Another beer that is quickly growing in popularity is Abbaye des Rocs Montagnarde, an excellent amber beer with a full and rich flavor.
